my brother keeps asking me for money for (i’m assuming) trading/forex and i don’t know if i should stop giving it to him
a while ago my brother started asking me for money, it wasn’t much- $100 here $150 there. i always assumed it was because he was living paycheck to paycheck and needed a little extra $, which made no sense to me because his job pays quite well, and he lives at home. then i overheard him talking about stocks and how many shares he’d bought that day and then it was starting to make sense. he always gives me my money back no later than a couple days, and he’s quite reliable, so i’ve always trusted that he was going to give me my money back anyway and i didn’t question lending him money since he always made good on it. plus he’s my older brother and like i said, extremely financially reliable so it was a no brainer. but recently he has upped the amount and asked me for $700, which i sent him no problem. and a couple days later he asked if i could send $1000, and asked if i wanted to make an extra $100. he saw i was skeptical so he explained that it was a money-back guaranteed competition or something. he has never ever explained what he needed the money for before this -not that i ever asked- but this time it was almost $2000 so i guess he knew he had to explain. at this point i already figured out what the money was for so i asked if i’m getting my money back whether or not he makes it back. he gave me his word that i’m not losing any money, in fact i’ll earn $100. not that i would ever risk $1700 for $100 but like i said i trust him so i sent it to him. now i have no doubt that he’s gonna give me my money back, that’s not even the issue, but i’m moreso worried that if i keep giving him money no questions asked, i might be enabling him in some way and might just be fuelling his trading needs. i’m sure he’s responsible in how he does it, but you just can’t be too sure where there’s money and gambling involved. i (very clearly) dont know much about trading so i’m not even going to bother asking him, but i just don’t want him to get into a place he can’t get out of all because i lent him money the second he asked. should i cut back a little? should i just let him do his thing? idk if the question even makes sense but i guess i’m not sure if I’M even being financially responsible.
So my dad has joined this “‘mentality” group. It’s related to FOREX investments, anyone can help me out?
He’s been acting weird and secretive lately about these ZOOM meetings that he is attending; he locks himself in a room and nobody can disturb him no matter what. I checked his computer while he was away and I found that what he has joined is something called “Freedom Alquimia: mentality and Forex”. It’s all in Spanish (we’re in Spain and are Spanish). From what he has told me the people there are making 5K a month just by trading very little and he wants that. I know that’s already fishy, but he says that he hasn’t put any money at all. So.... I’m confused. His behavior has been changing since he started this and he claims that my mum is “sabotaging” his success; and I’m just scared they’re brainwashing him or something. Maybe it’s legit but... I need to confirm somehow and google didn’t help at all.. Thank you everyone!!!
I have just started learning about trading in forex market and it would be great if someone with experience could help me to come up with a trading plan
I just finished reading Currency Trading for Dummies and I now have some very basic idea of trading however I understand that I’m only starting and I’m going to stick with demo account for now. Now I want to start working on my trading plan and as I have learned there is no easy formula to make a trading plan however I think someone with experience could explain to me some flaws of my trading plan if there are any. For now I only have a very basic trading plan. I have decided to trade in 1h and 4h charts. First, I will look at a general trend because as I learned in the book it is better to not trade against trend and then look at resistance and support in daily charts. Then I will look at where prices are likely to break resistance or support and there I am going to enter the market. I plan to close my positions at some key resistance or support levels or when I learn how to use it maybe I will also use Fibonacci retracement. Hoping to hear andvice from someone who is familiar with such type of trading Thanks!
Is it me, or is the quiz offered on this Forex training site wrong?
I'm still learning, so I could be wrong, but I can't figure out why my answers to this training site's Forex test were wrong, so I'm not sure I should trust this site. Here's why I think they're each wrong, can someone let me know if I'm wrong on any of these and why?
You can't translate pips to a flat profit amount, it depends on the percent change.
There are 4 major currency pairs, the others are commodity currencies, but not considered majors.
Liquidity is about a tighter spread, and there being more buyers/sellers available, not how much it moves.
The S&P 500 isn't necessarily the 500 largest, but is constructed based on a few other criteria besides just size.
Buenas mervaleros.
Despite having all my family and friends next to me, I feel so alone when trading forex?
I can talk about trading with my friends and family whenever I like and they listen to me and try to understand. But when I'm actually trading, I feel so alone even when my family are right next to me. I think it's because I am 100% responsible for my account. It's not like a regular 9-5 job where if you screw up, you don't take all the blame. And even if you do, the problem gets sorted by someone else while you get a little slap on the wrist. When you're trading, your problems are your own. You have to sort it out yourself, and that can feel a bit isolating at times. Does anyone else feel this? Not trying to be im14andthisisdeep, just saying how I feel. I made a £78 loss today. Maybe I'm just being too dramatic and letting my emotions get to me. Either way, I will be taking a break this week and resume trading next Monday.
Lost around 26k USD so far in forex. Is it not for me?
Hi guys, It is a sinking feeling to know that I have lost around 26k USD in forex till date. This is almost 12% of my current net worth so it is SIGNIFICANT. I understand most retail traders lose money in forex, so shall I pull out of it?
Can traders who don’t scam help me understand the appeal of Forex?
Soon to be college freshman, and I’ve seen a large rise in Forex traders amongst high schoolers and college students around my age. Enough that it’s not surprising how easy it is to convince someone to start. They all say “ Get rich quick”, “Make a second income from your phone”, “I’ve been using Forex for “time period under a year”, and have been making more than your parents”. Literally everyone pushes a “ I’m making a shit ton of money and I just started image”, which is obscene to me. One thing about them is that they never show actual profit, or explain Forex enough so I can understand the appeal. Almost everyone say to join a class or group or something similar, then I found out there’s a fee to get in, and that apparently it’s some type of scam where those new traders try to enlist under people and get fees(200$+). None of the traders ever talk about failures in the process of achieving positives, or negatives/setbacks. Pretty much they make it sound like a perfect money maker For one, I can’t really believe this is a get rich quick scheme, especially for freshman college students I know who can barely save or handle their finances/allowance money. And if it was, then it would be way more popular, because then everyone would be rich as long as they joined the group. I haven’t met anyone who told me they studied on their own, but that they joined a group. I see pictures of seminars and group meetings, and advertisements to “join my Forex group”, with a older college student in front of a car wearing a nice outfit. Plus, if you’re actually skeptical, a lot of them get defensive or showcase a “ I’m smarter and you’ll wish you started this” type rant. Some say, “this is my only income, I don’t have even a part time job “ I’m not saying I doubt Forex value, but I doubt the narratives pushed , but I assume these teenagers don’t research as much as you guys regardless, so honestly were you guys really making extreme profit starting off? If not, when did you guys see extreme profit? If yes, how much research and time did you put in? Are the groups needed? Can you use this as a single income? I’ve just started getting into investing with a, make money for the long road instead of get rich quick. Is Forex more in that side?
